Hey Greg!

We're up here on the Russian River, so that's still a bit of a stretch from
Petaluma. Better than going to Berkeley, though, where there is a very
active group. I wish I new how to dig some of the Linux enthusiasts out of
the woodwork around here.

I'm really surprised that there were so few responses to the posting I put
on Craigslist. Maybe I need to put up some notes on local bulletin
boards? How primitive is that?!

So my vision was to get together a local group of people who were "brave"
enough to take the leap, or are even still thinking about it and need some
encouragement, and just have a responsive support group of folks who can
help whenever somebody runs into a glitch. Most of the "glitches" are
really easy differences between the way Windows and Linux OS's do things.
My wife, whose business machine I switched over in the midst of much
apprehension on her part, is just fine. She dislikes change and she's
perfectly fine with Ubuntu. Says in most of her uses it is snappier than
XP was, and she doesn't miss XP. She has had to switch to GIMP from
Photoshop, and that takes a bit of getting used to, but there are tweaks to
make it pretty painless.

Anyway, let's see what happens, and keep in touch!
