In that case, if you are in the dash, which is the large menu from the button in the top-left, search for the file you want to delete, right click it, and then select "Show in Folder". This will open the correct folder in the file manager, and should automatically select the appropriate file. You can then right-click on the file and select "Move to the Rubbish Bin". You can then delete it permanently by opening the Rubbish Bin (Bottom left of the screen), selecting it, and then deleting it again in the manner described above.
