Having just installed 13.04 I was a bit surprised to find that I can't copy

This seems to be a known error / bug to do with gvfs. I was hoping there might
be a simple-ish workround of some sort but so far have failed to find one.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Don't know about Samba issues, but there are plenty of other options for moving files. Off the top of my head:

* ssh via nautilus
* netcat (command line, very fast, ideal for "big data")
* scp via the command line.

There are probably more too.

FWIW, I mostly use scp.
