Thanks Neil, Although I didn't end up using Unison [looked at the requirements for the work's [Windows] setup & had to give it a thumbs down, it did provide a few extra "pointers" in my search. Having got so close, I again hunted Microsoft's own support site & found "SyncToy"! Problem solved. Just done a trial [read, risky] run/test on my own Ubuntu desktop vs. Windows partition [ne're the two shall meet!] on same machine and boom! That is what I needed... Rsync [grsync] in Ubuntu & SyncToy on the windoze machine. Should satisfy the firm all ok [assuming the Microsoft install pack works on the [rather locked down] laptop ok - & I see no reason why not] all "compliance" requirements met - & [most importantly] - I still win my battle with them to use and promote a Ubuntu setup for us low-life engineers ;) Next step... conquer the world!!
