With the new college, school and university year starting soon, I was
wondering what tools can be used to take notes for lectures, classes,
meetings, etc. in Ubuntu, or on Linux in general.
There are popular tools like MS OneNote and Evernote, but neither
support Linux (granted they can apparently work with Wine but that's
not the focus)
So, does anyone on here use or know of any decent software/methods to use?

I found tomboy notes to be useful since you can auto-hyperlink utility
is very practical. If you use external pen to take handwritten notes
there is xjournal, but not all of the hardware seem to be easy to set up.
I also found freemind (I use sciplore at work) to be useful for taking
notes during a braindump session.
If you need to take notes with equations it might be worth learning a
bit of LaTeX since it probably is quicker to type
\frac{x^2}{y_2(c^3+v^{2x})} than looking up the menus and clicking with
the mouse.
