I seem to recall the blue i button helped out with this after you installed. That's how I found out about FLOSS vs proprietary. in my case I like the fact that it's not installed by default not because of licence but so that I get a feel as to how much proprietary I'm letting pass.
BTW ever since I have installed ubuntu natty I have stopped having problems with wireless of my aspire one clogging up the my home network in some strange way.
