Hello Simon,
To get a windows machine to change its assigned DCHP IP address, try the
following commands in a terminal window (Dos box) on your Windows machine:

ipconfig \release
ipconfig \renew

It has been a while since I used Windows, to I may have got the slashes the
wrong way round.  If the about does not work, try

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
