Thanks for that. Although it looks impressive, it's a dreadful beast to tame! I'm going to have to leave trying to use it until I have a LOT of time! First thing it did was to come up with a warning telling me to to edit /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax to contain a much larger number: the system doesn't allow that edit in any way shape or form, so I had to edit the kernel preferences instead. Then it took a lot of work to get it to agree that I have a camera plugged into a firewire card. But so far, I haven't got the video capture actually to work. And when I try, the record facility freezes and I have to shut it down with the terminal or the system monitor ..... maybe I'll look at it again in a few days, but for now its back to good old reliable Kino. Now I've looked at it, I see that there is a lot of proprietary stuff in it. It depend on QuickTime and it comes with a lot of proprietary codecs, so I'm not surprised it is not in the normal repos. -- What do you see when you use your Computer?
