Hmm ... at first look, it compares quite favourably. It is pretty similar in many ways; next time I want to do some OCR work, I'll do a better comparison and see which I prefer. OCR feeder is no longer in the Uubntu repo. I got it from the OCRfeeder website. Thanks for the suggestion.
