Hmm, thanks for all the responses! I think, as I tend to be rather conservative with other people's machines, that based on what I've read here, I'll go 32 bit for this one. I'm not a guru, just someone who's comfortable setting Ubuntu up, so I'll go with what seems to be the path of least resistance.
