Concur. AMD has totally dropped the ball when it comes to either
price:performance or overall performance except at the very low end.
(E.g., the Sempron chips are quite good, way better than Atom for
desktop roles.)

They'll offer good graphics performance for low-end/low-cost systems,
but they won't rival an Intel system with discrete graphics. Still,
the heterogeneous multicore route is almost certainly the way things
will go in future.
