Thanks everyone for your help here. It only has one Gig of memory anyway, and as it seems to work OK from the Lucid live CD (32 bit), I'll go for that rather than find she wants to use flash or something and can't. She seems only to want to use the internet, and the normal office stuff as well as building web-pages, so everything she'll want will be well supported. Only thing I have to try now is getting a wireless connection working - I have a spare wireless pci card, but if I cant get Ubuntu to find that, I'm sure I can add something on. Her next door neighbour has offered to let her log on to the next door hub!!
