Have a look at this wiki page: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/gnomeshell I have been adding to it about gnome shell. It should contain all the info you need. The bit you need is right at the bottom.
You might, depending on how risky you want to live use this ppa: https://edge.launchpad.net/~ricotz/+archive/testing I am using it at the moment, and it works well (for now).
