Hi there ..... Yesterday I took the old box to the non-geek lady I mentioned. I spent about half an hour showing her round Ubuntu Netbook Remix set up with the Gnome desktop as default. I went back later as there was a minor hitch with the printer, and she had written several job-applications ready to print out, and downloaded various job application forms. She has been sending and receiving e-mails like an expert, and generally doing everything she wants to do. I'm amazed!
She says she finds Ubuntu much easier than Windows 98 (well, I think it is). Ubuntu has clearly reached the point that it is for the average user. Exciting really!
