I have gone for Seagate for the last 5 years and have not had any failure (touches lots of wood). I intend to upgrade my oldest drives within the year as they are too small, noisier and more power hungry than recent Seagate, which on the whole have been a lot quieter. Except on my netbook, I use raid everywhere, but should do more about back up (I keep telling myself that raid != backup). Most of the important stuff is either on raid or on Ubuntu one cloud storage. -- John Stevenson jr0cket.com leanagilemachine.com
