Anyway... I would agree that certain aspects may be expensive, however, like you say it's well worth considering - perhaps a well presented, coordinated TV advert to coincide with the launch of the next version could do wonders for Linux as a whole. People will 'see' it, and learn more about etc - the usual marketing stuff :-) In terms of production, if we're doing a coordinated advert, I'd be happy to do it for free (the filming, at least). The only cost then would be the advertising costs. I'm sure someone would want to edit the footage - perhaps we could shoot different 'things', and ask people to edit it all together in their own way, the winner gets it put on TV?
