Yes, it would. However, if you were to follow the "after-school" route, I dont think IT support would take kindly to you dismantling their PCs! (but, they wouldn't like it if you wiped their disks clean either - so it is a fair point). Isn't it possible to "lock down" a live-usb edition of ubuntu? that may be another solution, (if it can be done...)
