A while ago one of the guys in my local LUG said he got a slide scanner which was an "Imagelabs Instant Slide Copier" from ThinkGeek which supposidly scans to SD Card. Not sure if it scans to Linux too. You can find it here: http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/digital-conversion/b070/ Problem is, it appears that they don't ship outside the US. Not sure if you might be able to find one on eBay or alternatively a UK supplier for this sort of thing?
