Greetings,

I have a friend who seems to be having a few problems.

It all started when I visited him to sort another computer out only for
him to tell me that Ushare was not working. Upon investigation I found
that his ip address was set via dhcp to 217.43.191.95 and his system was
not wanting to connect to the web or his home network.

After a reinstall of 8.10 (due to 8.04 not being able to update to
9.04), connectivity was re-established using the normal 192.xx.xx.xx
address range.

Got a phone call earlier saying that the original problem was back (the
system was only reinstalled less then 24hrs previously) and have just
spent the last hour trying to sort it out over the phone.

Whois states that 217.43.191.95 refers to BT which is understandable due
to him having a Homehub 2

Have tried:

setting up a static address but Ubuntu seems to insist
on using the above address
                Swapping cables / router ports
Soft / Hard reset of the router

Any ideas?

Mick
