Hallo all I have a system that has problems to load the Gnome panels, It boots and the moment I log on I get the desk top but no panels In the past I could execute the 2 commandments to load or reload the panels if they frose:
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/panel killall gnome-panel and then the panels would auto load again, however at this stage I get this error on the first command and the panels does not load at all... Please have a look at this ... _______________________________________ [server]# gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/panel Failure during recursive unset of "/apps/panel": Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See http://www.gnome.org/projects/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.) [server]# killall gnome-panel ________________________________________________ I know the system was a bit flake and will go to the mentioned website and Google of course but maybe you guys have a quick solution / idea thanx -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/
