Hi everyone,

I'm a brand new Ubuntu user who lives in Belper in Derbyshire. I have only been
using Linux for a few weeks and am still rather lacking in confidence with the
system, particularly the terminal window, as I have spent all of my computer
using life in a battle with MS of various forms. Linux was recommended to me by
a work colleague but it took me six months to pluck up the courage to give it a
try. So I bought an elderly second hand laptop off eBay and took the plunge. I
chose the Ubuntu distro as it seemed best suited for absolute beginners like
me. I also invested in the book "Ubuntu for Non-Geeks" which has been a great
help. I have had several problems but I have been able to solve all of them
using the various forums. The system is now working well and I am impressed by
its stability and the ease of adding new software. Even my wife is happy to use
Ubuntu, but is rather addicted to Frozen Bubble.

Does anyone know of a LUG that meets on a regular basis near Derbyshire? I have
tried the LUG UK website but have not had any response. I would like to meet
some fellow users face-to-face to get some inspiration from how other people
are using their systems.

Cheers,

Barry
