Hello, Gordon. I had a similar problem with the Broadcom WiFi chipset on my Asus A6K notebook, so I installed "ndiswrapper-utils" and "ndisgtk", which is a GUI for setting up NDIS drivers. I've now got a 54Mb/s WiFi connection!
