Lets just calm down guys. Rowan, you clearly have a problematic device in your machine, and many people have chipped in advice on how to assist. I appreciate it's frustrating for you, and it's frustrating for others who expect commands to yield results in your environment. Sometimes it needs another pair of eyeballs on the machine. Whereabouts in the UK are you Rowan? Perhaps we can hook you up with some real-world support which might be faster than lots of to-and-fro on the mailing list.
