I have a (very) non-techie friend who is just starting with Ubuntu
from Windows. He wants to continue to use skype. I can easily help
with that initially, I have a free skype account myself so I can do
support for skype installation.

However, he has a paid skype account, I think so that he can make
calls to landlines, including to destinations in spain. He obviously
has information held on his windows system, he calls it his 'Account'
and at some stage very soon he will want to 'Copy his skype Windows
Account across to Ubuntu'.
mmm.

Can anyone say what the difference is, in terms of what is in Windows,
between a paid skype and a free skype? In particular how to migrate
across?

Am I correct in thinking that the financial total - credit or whatever
- is probably held online by Skype? I can guess that on the Windows PC
there will be such things as contacts, but I do not know enough about
skype to know if contacts is also held online.
