servers direct are very good, the sales guys dont know very much technically but the pricing and service is brilliant. For a very basic server i would suggest this one, http://www.serversdirect.co.uk/Fujitsu_Siemens_PRIMERGY_VFY:E1002SH040GB/version.asp have used it in a clients just a file server, stuck in an extra disk and setup software raid 1 worked a treat.

Daniel

Now I've got to look for another centre, ideally closer to where I live
so I can do the same again (although hopefully on a cheaper scale using
a home built server and not custom cabinets).

Has anyone tried these guys before http://www.serversdirect.co.uk/

Their servers seem very cheap! You might be able to save a couple of
quid on your next project perhaps?

I haven't tried them before but I'll certainly look at their site.

Is a Demon server really needed for a thing like this, wouldn't a
powerful desktop be able to handle something like this? You can get
some damn powerful machines in the range of a few hundred quid,
nowadays. But you can't beat a good poweredge 2650 :)
