Evening all I seem to recall from previous postings that we have a couple of home automation peeps lurking on the list.
I've been presented with a "working" temperature sensor that uses RS-485 standard, together with a USB convertor. The problem is that it came with no software to grab hold of / display the data. So two questions. 1. Does anyone know of an open source app, either windows or linux that will be able to grab hold of this data and maybe display it too? and/or 2. Is anyone aware of a library that can get this data - I am presumeing that the standard USB library won't work by itself. But as I'm only just getting to grips with this, I could in fact be barking up the wrong tree!
