Sounds like it just turned the screen off to save power. Thats normal
power-saving settings. The device your talking about would be running
non-stop, but it would have been chosen for its low-power
characteristics, ie the NSLUG, or my old laptop.

If its a laptop, and it had a supported CPU, then it could scale the
CPU frequency (300Mhz, 450Mhz,.....1.6Ghz) depending on what it was
doing. But *just* torrenting would require very little processing
power, so you would start off with a "slow" CPU anyway.
