The easiest way about it, is to have some device connected to the network, running a service that will download torrents (torrentflux?), and share the download directory on the network, then from your ubuntu machine mount that share, and you can access the files downloaded while you pc is off! :) for that device you can use the nslu2 or any other Network Access Storage, I had a freecom fsg-3, whicch worked nice after some hacking. or you can build your own with an old computer lying around.
