Great news Diane, Although not very active in groups and not technically able at all, I promote Ubuntu to anyone with an ear! I will see if I can come along, and I hope you are not too swamped at the event as it could become BIG. Already with the adding to UWN etc.
As for locals to Swindon, I live in Devizes (about 20 miles away) I tried to get on with the Wiltshire LUG and found that they tend to hang around IRC and any events were in Swindon. I am an enthusiast, but I cannot maintain a long IRC presence due to my lifestyle. the mailing list does not have anyone mailing on it. I am sure there has been much comment on the variety and differences of the UK LUGs, but Wiltshire is a large county with its populace fairly evenly spread over its area. I would love to hear if there are any Devizes Ubuntu users as a search on Google gave some, but you never know whether people move on from the OS and I don´t often knock on the door of strangers (OK I´m shy!). I am not suggesting at the moment setting up a Devizes Ubuntu LUG but it would be nice to know if there were others more local. I would consider setting up a mailing list if the numbers were that strong. If anyone is in the town or surrounding area, as we are rural, it would be nice not to feel so ´on my own´.
