I think we need some more info, such as the exact error message
(cut'n'paste?), and the contents of the X log (from /var/log/Xorg.log,
or a similar filename in that directory).

The X log might be a bit too large to post inline or attach to a mail,
so maybe using the pastebin (http://pastebin.ubuntu-uk.org/) would be
a good idea.
