Hello, Kris. Have you tried: sudo ifconfig -a Also see if the kernel detected it by looking at the output of: dmesg Alternatively, try: more /var/log/kern.log If the kernel loads the module it reports it, but if the hardware is not found it will jsut be ignored and no device will be created. I think WiFi is the Achilles heel of Ubuntu acceptance: I've just used the fwcutter package in the 'restricted' software manager to install the Broadcom firmware on an Asus laptop. I also had to enable the Windows driver 'wake-on-LAN-after-power-off' option which, by default, DISABLES the Realtek wired connection under Linux! (this is a dual-boot machine). All working nicely under Ubuntu 7.10, with Compviz 3D effects now! Very shiny :-) Best wishes, Tony. -- Dr. A.J.Travis, | mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Rowett Research Institute, | http://www.rri.sari.ac.uk/~ajt Greenburn Road, Bucksburn, | phone:+44 (0)1224 712751 Aberdeen AB21 9SB, Scotland, UK. | fax:+44 (0)1224 716687 -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.kubuntu.org/UKTeam/
