WEP is one of the encryption methods used over wireless ethernet (802.11), encrypting all traffic with a shared secret known as the WEP key. Unfortunately, it's not very secure, so it's recommended to use WPA if you desire that your communications not be eavesdropped. The first hit on Google for "WEP" brings up the Wikipedia article which contains more details.
