Generally reinstallation of the same version doesn't fix problems in Ubuntu, do you mean you updated the package? Could you tell me what version of the package you have installed? It should be 2.0.4-0ubuntu3 You can find the version by looking in synaptic (system->administration->synaptic package manager) and searching for openoffice.org or by typing "dpkg -l openoffice.org" in a terminal.
