When you get the GRUB countdown, press escape then move down to the kernel line and press "e" to edit it. Remove splash and quiet to see all the kernel messages fly by. If it stalls you should take note of the last thing that was echoed to the screen. I had this with an edgy system and it was down to a problem with an external USB hard disk. By unplugging it, I was able to boot okay. > Also, is there something I should be doing to boot the system after > the routine (every 30 or so boots) disk check has completed it's work? > I just seem to end up with text view of the the aftermath - should the > end of the disk check sequence continue to boot and take me to the > desktop? > What does it say after the check? Are there errors detected? Cheers, Al. -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.kubuntu.org/UKTeam/
