A simple way of sharing your folders is to goto System -> Administration -> Shared Folders. In the box that appears click Add. When the Share Folder box appears select the path (I think it defaults to your home directory), make sure Share Through is set to Windows Networks (SMB) and then enter a name for the share. From the xbox end you need to choose SMB share I think, it has been a while since I browsed shares from the Xbox, I altered my xboxmediacenter.xml file to point to the shares on my PC & server.
