I'm sorry, this is bunk. The BBC is not a total Microsoft shop. They are doing *lots* of stuff with Linux and other Open Source/Free Software. One of theirs even did a talk at GLLUG recently! The problem with the streams is that from their point of view, they are covering the whole market because you can download (proprietary) codecs/players for Real and WMA for any operating system. In their mind, we have made an operating system choice of "Linux" rather than a more fundamental choice of "Free Software". They are a business after all, so the powers that be are likely not to approve spending resources just to satisfy some "bunch of hippies and their demands".
