Good evening everyone. First , again allow me to extend a very very sincere thank you to everyone who helped in creating and contributing to the UKTeam stand at the linux world expo. Whilst I am very grateful for the response and positive feedback I have received in organising the stand, It really honestly could not have been what it was without all the effort and materials that were generated and used. so if I have not said it enough... Thank you.
And now onto the next big thing we need to to. UKTeam Approval. If there are no objections, I would like to take the lead and the responsibility on the the UK Ubuntu Team Approval and Team Contact list which I have volunteered for ( well Jono did that bit again ! ). There are a number of prerequisites that the UKTeam will need to meet and my assumption is that the UKTeams approval will be defined by the efforts of all the District UKTeam members. If you are intersted in the basic form that we require to complete then view it here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoTeamHowto . As you can see we have quite a few teams who are seeking approval and there are a number of teams already approved ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoTeamList ). Now the purpose of this email is to begin to generate the content and the relevant links required for the Approval. I have emailed to Melisa Draper ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MelissaDraper ) and asked for her advice and guidance on Team Approval since she has discussed a Team Mentoring process and it is appropriate to the Code of Conduct that I ask questions when Unsure. So , we are seeking to become Approved as per the details on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoGettingApproved and the key areas are Resources: for which we have a mail list, and irc channel and some wiki pages. Membership : We have members ( as demonstrated by the activity in the mailing list and the irc channels and the expo ) Roadmap : We discussed at the Expo our thoughts and Ideas, however we also conceded that we needed to formalise and ratify those ideas and agree upon them and in the spirit of getting things done I can complete this task by typing up the notes and agreeing an IRC meeting date in the near ( consider it within 2 weeks ) future. Experience: Theres plenty Experience within the group but here is the chance to define and clarify the results of that experience and in reflection consider how it can be used to progress activity on the roadmap and within membership as well as bug fixes and translations for the distributions. If we can satisfy those requirements then we are on the track to getting approval, So ...... a walk in the park compared to two days at olympia eh ! .. either way I am very sure and very confident that we can bring this together and get it submitted with enough time to make it a news article for one of the various Linux UK magazines. Regards and thanks for reading. Nik Butler -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.kubuntu.org/UKTeam/
