(I have agree with Dean -- you are coming across quite hostile, even if that
was not your intention. It is very frustrating when GNU/Linux and/or GNOME
doesn't "just work".)

'Nuff said, how about some information?
1. Bug number (esp. if all the following is included in the bug)
2. Desktop/laptop model/specs
3. Sound card model
4. Gstreamer version (try 'gst-launch-0.10 --version')

There are a few things to check. Is the sound card still being detected?
The command 'lspci' will list all your PCI devices, and hopefully the
soundcard is in there somewhere. (I've never heard of an update breaking
the hardware detection, but it is possible. It's also possible that a sound
card can be "wobbled" loose if it's not seated properly, or screwed in.)
There is also the Hardware applet in the Administration system menu which
will probably give you the same information.

Try creating a new user and logging in. I've previously had some problems
with user config files when upgrading from Breezy - Dapper Beta - Dapper,
and creating a new user showed me that it was just my account, not the
underlying system.

If you've still got your install Live CD try booting off that. It will be
the "old" (aka original) setup, so if there is something that has been
upgraded and broken your sound, the Live CD should still work.

Try logging into Recovery mode and running sound applications as root.
'aplay' plays WAV files through ALSA, which may or may not be appropriate
for your setup.

I can't think of anything else at the moment, but let us ("The Community"
;-)) know how it goes.
