Unlikely, mount just calls the mount system call in the kernel. It's definitely one of the patches added recently. Looking at: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/dapper/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+changelog might help identify what might have changed to cause this. Are the reports in this bug: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/19749 similar to what you are experiencing?
