OK, I've fixed mine with, sudo update-alternatives --auto usplash-artwork.so then, sudo dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-$(uname -r). I've also noticed that little gui for editing the grub menu list has gone, which is a shame because it was a handy tool on duel booting systems.
