While I think custom hardware might not be out of scope, I think we will know more tomorrow (hopefully, Will Cooke said he was writing up a doc to give us a little direction). That said, these are ideas that were brought up months ago. Ideally, we'll have both built into the TV as well as a STB. Regarding TV with USB connections for hard drives, you are going to get crap performance if you try to run a DVR on low end hardware (ATOM/ARM).
