Hi Brian, I can't help with FstHost, but I'm also using Reaper in Wine for sound recording and editing. Have your tried using the WineASIO driver for your audio device? http://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/Documentation:Manual:wineasio_and_reaper You may first have to add the KXStudio repositories and install the "wineasio" package: http://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/Repositories I'm not sure if this is the best way to solve this, but it works for me, even with software monitoring. If there is a better solution and someone would weigh in, I would be interested as well. :) There's apparently also version of Reaper for Linux systems in the works, but I don't know how stable the current build is or how VSTs work in that.
