No, I never do. I wouldn't want to install from a backup as there might be some problems which I would be unable to identify and whatever caused my computer to stop working properly could happen again. I feel that it's always better to effect a fresh installation. After all, that doesn't take too long. I routinely (at least once a day, believe it or not) back up my data (folders and files) to external drives so that it is easy to restore my stored information. I haven't had to do a fresh installation in quite some time though I'll probably do so on all of our computers once v.14.04LTS is introduced.
