Am running 13.04 64b on a dell dimension 9100 The only difference I can imagine would be gravity on a bearing(s).. the original reason I did this was to expose the hottest part of the drive to the cooling fans.. I had a problem with a Maxtor drive getting too hot and deciding its 250G could hold 2T, while the bios complied the controllers refused to try...
As a total aside.. (perhaps a secret area of the disk) This morning I have been working with the Audio .. Qjack, Qsynth working nicely for the Keystation 88 .. I wanted to notate some guitar music so installed Tex Line from the software center (indicated it was installed but did not say where). went to File Manager only to discover there is no search function. Tried app finder in accessories.. nothing.. went back to the center.. it says 'installed' at the app but does not find it in installed software. Installed Kfind (a little leary bc it is KDE) and back at home app finder does not see that either ? In software center it says installed and shows it as being in the 'uncategorized' area ? Thunar does not see this.... any ideas ??
