Yes both. My AM2 is currently a file server in the basement, and it locks up under heavy load a couple of times a month. > was the kernel from Ubuntu 8.04 or 64Studio 2.0, every other upgrade > doesn't work or work only disabling the LAPIC. > > Do you think intel platforms work better with RT kernels? Any suggestions? At the moment I am a big fan of Intel. On my laptop (still 8.10) I use an RT kernel for day to day stuff, including vmware workstation. I hammer this thing daily and it is rock solid. I cannot say the same for my previous laptop which was an AM2 based Turion. It is a shame since the previous generation of AMD CPUs/motherboards was so awesome (this is what my current recording rig is based around). OTH, I am a fan of the ATI/AMD video cards. The newer cards are supported by a properly open sourced driver (radeonhd). -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAkn3UoIACgkQwRXgH3rKGfNAyACfcCHnJ8hEpZfT9si9aEw8jerk 6BsAn3kIGvlWBhMjdHSsPyZvIYnjKnoq =B8ds -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list [email protected] Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users
