I hope it'd be OK for backwards compatibility, but there might be some issue with the length of the struct changing, and if there's any possibility of externally built modules having issues with that somehow. I think it needs a deeper look to ensure that it's backwards-ABI-safe, and suitability for SRU would depend on the outcome.
