I expected it to be Raring (when on Raring). Indeed, on Precise, I believe that you'd get a Precise container. The culprit appears to be http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu- branches/ubuntu/saucy/lxc/saucy/view/head:/templates/lxc-ubuntu- cloud.in#L145 where this is hardcoded, and Raring and Saucy have not been added. Better, this should be fixed in a more general way so it does not need to be fixed every release. Workaround: Use "lxc-create -t ubuntu-cloud -n test -- -i test -r raring" to explicitly specify the release required.
