This is still a valid issue. If the ftp group is present outside of /etc/group (such as in LDAP), then the installation of vsftpd fails. Simply saying "add the group ftp" is not a valid response - the group is already present in the directory.
The problem is with the post-installation script assuming that "group ftp is present" is the same as "group ftp is present in /etc/group" when it tries to do its thing. ** Changed in: vsftpd (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to vsftpd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/804425 Title: package vsftpd 2.2.2-3ubuntu6.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vsftpd/+bug/804425/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
