@Serge, better late than never but this is still a problem in Lucid (10.04.3 release) and the "seabios_0.5.1-0ubuntu2.1~ppa2_all.deb" (https://launchpad.net/~dev- nigelj/+archive/bugtest/+files/seabios_0.5.1-0ubuntu2.1%7Eppa2_all.deb) from above allows 2008R2SP1 to boot and install with 16 CPUs. I haven't tested it thoroughly past boot and install but I can if you feel it's necessary/critical; otherwise, please SRU this fix for Lucid.
