Public bug reported: Binary package hint: qemu-kvm
This issue exists with a recently installed 10.04 (lucid) system with all packages fully updated as of today. I installed a new Windows 7 guest on "localhost (QUEMU)" which was then running fine. Once I attempted to restart the guest, I expected the guest to start up but got the followingerror popup: "Error starting domain: monitor socket did not show up.: Connection refused" Details: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/engine.py", line 588, in run_domain vm.startup() File "/usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/domain.py", line 150, in startup self._backend.create() File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/libvirt.py", line 300, in create if ret == -1: raise libvirtError ('virDomainCreate() failed', dom=self) libvirtError: monitor socket did not show up.: Connection refused Restarting the system or the kvm-qemu service does not work and the config files do not seem to be corrupted. $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS Release: 10.04 $ apt-cache policy qemu-kvm qemu-kvm: Installed: 0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9.3 Candidate: 0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9.3 Version table: *** 0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9.3 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: qemu-kvm 0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9.3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-27.49-generic 2.6.32.26+drm33.12 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-27-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx Architecture: amd64 Date: Mon Jan 24 09:33:40 2011 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release amd64 (20100427.1) KvmCmdLine: Error: command ['ps', '-C', 'kvm', '-F'] failed with exit code 1: UID PID PPID C SZ RSS PSR STIME TTY TIME CMD MachineType: Dell Inc.
